“I believe that I can be as good a physicist as my male colleagues.”
Her friends described Mileva as petite, quiet, serious, hardworking, determined, ugly, and disabled. However, in a time when women had few rights in education, she was the only woman to enroll at the Zurich Polytechnic University in 1896 Europe, and only the fifth woman in the university’s history to do so. She was also a brave lover who decided to have a child out of wedlock during that period…
Mileva and Einstein had quite different personalities. While Mileva was a quiet, calm, serious, and introverted woman, Einstein was rebellious, independent, cheerful, and fun. After marrying Einstein, Mileva had to set aside her scientific passions to fulfill the duties of ‘being a woman’. She raised their children, did the housework, and at the same time, tried to be a good wife to Einstein. Despite countless intellectual exchanges and a significant contribution like the theory of relativity with Einstein, unfortunately, Mileva’s name, never appeared in any of Einstein’s works.
