About

Murat Palta (b. 1990, Hatay) graduated from Dumlupınar University Graphic Design Department in 2012 and worked in various advertising agencies in Istanbul. In 2013, he participated in the Miniature and Illumination Art workshop at the International Festival of Miniature and Illumination in Tlimsan, Algeria. In 2017, he was invited to the 4th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art. The artist, who designed the poster of the 37th Istanbul Film Festival in 2018, collaborated with brands such as Apple and Levi's in 2019. The artist lives and works in Istanbul.

Murat Palta creates a contemporary language by using pop culture elements in his miniatures, which at first glance seem like they belong to an ancient manuscript. Just like the muralists of the Ottoman period, Murat Palta examines and paints the literature and cinema of his period, as well as the events that took place in his own time. Unlike the muralists of that period, the artist addresses future audiences. Apart from interpreting popular culture as it is in miniature, it uses elements from popular culture as a tool and seeks the equivalent of mythology, philosophy and historical events in today's world. Naturally, the heroes in the compositions get rid of their original meanings and turn into the side heroes of the main story to be told. In bright and exaggerated colors, it reflects the contemporary with black humor, without any hesitation from the absurdity of inevitable anachronism.
