Tanzer Arığ Distortion / Destruction

Tanzer Arığ meets art lovers in Ankara, with his exhibition, “Distortion / Destruction” between 09.27 – 10.21.2019, at Gallery Siyah Beyaz.

Beyond being physical places where we lead our lives, cities have an important role in establishing a connection related to the past and the present through their socio-cultural, political and historical etc. values. A city also functions as a memory that allows to follow “track/tracks” that activate certain memories or impressions. While the artist has constructed this definition based on personal mythologies in his past exhibitions, in this exhibition, the city presents itself as a kind of memory space where the artist has reconstructed the alterations around his immediate environment in the context of past, present and future, as a person who has spent his entire life in Ankara.

The artist, who establishes the occupied-unoccupied space relationship with both the place and the audience, reflects this through metal architectural constructions. Additionally, through his sculptures, which he considers as places in themselves, he questions the feeling of privacy of human beings.

Artist Tanzer Arığ’s e exhibition entitled “Distortion / Destruction”, in which he establishes a connection among city, memory and architecture, can be seen at Gallery Siyah Beyaz from September 27th through October 21st 2019 every day except Sunday between 11:00 - 19:00.
