Sibel Kocakaya

Sibel Kocakaya(b.?,İstanbul) graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Photography in 2009. In 2014, she got her masters from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts University, Art on Opinion. In2015, she got her masters from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting.

Redefining space and relationship between body and space is the center of the artist's works. Her starting point is the daily life that evolves around space and the actions take place in public and private spaces through her personal experience, by using herself as a model in ever changing situations in different places. She also expresses herself through space. She builds an ideological relationship with the objects that are frequently around her. Her projects develop according to where she is and how she interacts with that place. The artist discovers new forms of artistic expression in every new place, for example in a different country. In her master thesis entitled "State of Mind in the Context of Spatial Relations and Its Interaction with Art," she addressed space and body relations in a sociological, ideological, and psychological context. She uses a cinematographic style to show the relationship between object and space, space and body, and sometimes adds moving images to underline the cncept of time. The artist also arranges performances around this concept.
