Kirkor Sahakoğlu
About
Born in Istanbul, Kirkor Sahakoglu studied at the Getronagan High School, after which he graduated from the School of National Applied Fine Arts Advertising Graphics Department. Later he received his master’s degree at Istituto Europeo Di Design in Milan. He also studied at Domus Academy and participated in workshops.
He teaches at Graphic Design Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Marmara University since 2000.
He also gives seminars and runs workshops at various universities and institutions including Bilgi University, Yıldız Technical University, Izmir Economy University, Faculty of Fine Arts at Dogus University, Faculty of Fine Arts at Bahcesehir University, Eskisehir Anatolian University and Turkish Advertising Foundation.
Kirkor Sahakoglu curated “Bearing Witness to the Lost History of an Armenian Family Through the Lens of the Dildilian Brothers (1872-1923)” exhibition at Tütün Deposu in 2014.
He opened his first solo exhibiton “ABSENT” at Tütün Deposu in 2015 which consisted of 39 paintings and 1 video.
He collaborated in the mixed exhibition "RIOT" at Galeri Bu in 2016.
His second individual exhibiton was named “UTOPIA”, a work of 79 paintings presented at the historical Galata Greek High School.
He participated in the mixed exhibition "A4" at Republic Museum in Sultanahmet which showcased works from fellow faculty members of Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in May 2017.
He participated in the project "Blue Hotel - Every room is lonely" exhibited at Istanbul International Contemporary Art Fair between 20th-23rd of September in 2018.
He contributed to the travelling mixed exhibition patroned by Educational and Cultural Union of Imvros which opened on 15th of September 2018 at the Cultural Hall of Municipality of Athens, 1st of October 2018 at the Gallery of Thessaloniki Society for Macedonian Studies, 5th of November 2018 at the İzmir Chamber of Commerce Exhibition Hall, 19th of November 2018 at Galata Rum Okulu, January 2019 at Tepeköy Gökçeada (Imvros).
He opened his third individual exhibition named "PASSION" at Milli Reasürans Art Gallery on 11th of April, 2019.
He participated in the exhibition "Shhh.!: Silence" which took place at Santral Campus of Istanbul Bilgi University on 9th of May in 2019.
He is represented by Gallery 77 at Contemporary Istanbul which took place between 12th and 15th of September 2019.
