Gülsün Karamustafa graduated from the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1969. 2nd, 3rd and 4th International Istanbul Biennials (1987, 1992, 1995); 3rd Kwangju Biennial (2000); 3rd Çetince Biennial (2003); 8th Havana Biennial (2003); 1st Sevilla Biennial (2004); “Contour 2nd Video Art Biennale”, Mechelen (2005); 11th Cairo Biennial (2008); 3rd Guangzou Triennial (2008); 3rd Singapore Biennial (2011); 1st Kiev Biennial (2012); 4th Thessaloniki Biennial (2013); She participated in the 31st Sao Paulo Biennial (2014) and the 10th Kwangju Biennial (2014). She held extensive solo exhibitions at SALT Beyoğlu, Galata, Istanbul (2013) and Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin (2016-2017).
