Gözde İlkin

About

Gözde İlkin primarily works with fabric along with other materials and techniques. Stitching and embroidery along with painting, drawing, photography, video and sound installations are her practices in making art. She collects domestic fabrics such as tablecloths, curtains, bed sheets and other
materials to create a personal archive of memory that she can refer to in accordance with her creative
framework. She constructs forms, which offer confrontational interactions within the motifs of fabrics. Her figures are combined with abstract cloudlike forms that aim to represent feelings and unresolved promises that remain abstract and in limbo that question cultural codes especially regarding social and political relationships/manipulation, borders, power domains, gender attitudes and urban transformation.
