About
Fırat Neziroğlu (b. 1981, Izmir, Turkey) transforms the traditional weaving form, which is one of the oldest arts known in Anatolia, into a unique contemporary weaving technique. His works, which give a different perspective to the classical woven painting tradition with the first line of fishing line material used in the field of weaving were exhibited in London, Istanbul, Munich, Paris, Incheon, Washington, Hawaii, New York, Kitakyushu, Shanghai, Tenjin, Chonburi, New Delhi, Venice, Buenos Aires, Como, Rome, Maniago. Introducing Anatolia to the world with the YEN collection at the New York Fashion Week fashion show, Neziroğlu's pieces have been exhibited at La Triennale di Milano, Royal Norwegian Embassy and Victoria House in London. His work has been featured in multiple auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s.
Fırat Neziroğlu's works have enabled him to be invited to many official events abroad for private production. The artist travelled to Oslo under the auspices of the Royal Norwegian Embassy; invited to Thailand to celebrate the queen’s birthday and to knit a special fabric for the Queen of Thailand. In 2017, he was invited to Qatar by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to make a special weave.
He studied at Dokuz Eylül University Textile and Fashion Design and continues his doctoral studies in the same department and lives in Istanbul, Turkey.
