Ekin Su Koç
About
Ekin Su Koç was born in Istanbul in 1986. In the academic period of 2007-2008, she attended the Erasmus programme in
Spain- Sevilla University while studying at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University where she graduated from in 2010. She
completed her master’s degree at Işık University in Painting in 2015. Her techniques range from collage on paper and paint
on canvas, to her recent works on fabric. The elements and images used by the artist touch upon both subjective/personal
and social references regarding the themes of migration, sense of belonging and body perception that relates to her time,
spaces and people’s effects on herself who pass through her life. The artist integrates images collected from both ethnic and
natural images-forms, with which she combines and re-creates new bodies that allow her to realize a new identity by also
monitoring her sense of belonging. Her works also lead to an individual reading of the artist herself who is dragged to move
from one country to another, from one city to another and to keep the pieces of her own roots together and preserve their
integrity. The artist, whose works are included in private collections, continues to work in her studio in Berlin.
