Ebru Zarakolu

In Ebru Zarakolu's works, the issues of coexistence, anti-separation-unification, psychodynamic phenomena, human reality, the pursuit of integrity and the cultural fusions they are exposed to come to the fore.

Zarakolu, who has strengthened her involvement in materials with her chemistry education before her art education, experiences and examines the tensions / formations arising from the combination of different materials. It transforms concepts such as overflow, separation, cracking, rupture, merging, flowing, melting and fusion into a physical reality through an expressive transference through the stresses arising from the coexistence of different materials. In this context, she has built his artistic practice on "material expression". Zarakolu creates its own order and artistic plane by believing in the power of the material and revealing this power. It allows for the existence of textures, surfaces, cracks, fractures and folds with each other within the irregularity of the new order it creates. Besides, the effects of historical and cultural textures are seen as the traces of different layers from "wabisabi" to neo-classical understanding, from archaic ruins to modern architecture. While Zarakolu describes her mental and emotional reality with material coming from the place we touch the earth, from the deepest layers of the earth; It also takes us on a journey through our mental captivity in our own historical process.
