Contradictory Impulses

About

Aysegul Turan explores aspects of material that brings forth an understanding of natural faculties. Through observing and contemplating on phenomena, she investigates the underlying principles of form.

She's been working with ‘ferromagnetism’ as a formation process for the making of sculptural pieces; assembled to create a field of transformation, exploring the intrinsic nature of the substance and the unifying principle that emerges from this realm. The contingent nature of the works creates dynamic entities, in which the magnetic force becomes an agent for the

transformation of matter and the exploration of the unknown.

In her work Sinem Mucur examines the transient appearances of the mundane to catch glimpses of a phenomenal presence in disguise.

Arranging split seconds to form singular moments, the edited and re-edited recordings gain an existence of their own, an alternate suggestion to the experienced moment.

While relying on its, (in a material sense)limited nature and using a combination of analogue and digital methods, she uses photography as a means to be in the moment.
