Cengiz Çekil

Cengiz Çekil (Niğde, 1945 - İzmir, 2015), after completing his license at Ankara Gazi University, continued his studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and his first solo exhibition has opened in the basement of a cafe was “Réorganisation pour une Exposition” in 1975. Çekil returned to Turkey in 1976, completed his master's degree in Sculpture at Ege University

Çekil's first retrospective took place between May - July 2010 at Rampa. This exhibition, curated by Vasıf Kortun, brought together the works of Cengiz Çekil between 1974 and 2010. His second personal exhibition, "With Cleaning Cloth", took place again in September 2013 at Rampa.
