Burcu Gökçek

Burcu Gökçek explores the psycho-spiritual journey that one goes through in the quest for self- realization. Her language belongs to the realm of the soul focusing on the tension between the inner and outer realities. She experiments with forms that are multivalent and permeable, with archetypal spaces that can hold both inner and outer realities at once. She observes the psychology of the hero/heroine, the obstacles he/she has to face along the way, the processes he/she has to go through in order to grow and mature. The images she creates act like anchors, correlated with the stages of the journey. Since the journey is yet unknown, her focus is on forming maps to navigate the unknown seas of the journey.
