Burcu Aksoy

About

Born in 1970 in Istanbul, artist Burcu Aksoy graduated from Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Academy, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture in 1993.
When he decided to use photography as a tool in 2003, his work in the field of space design began to take another stage.
He produces these art works, which he named as "Photographic Works", based on the disciplines of architecture, design, psychiatry and psychoanalysis.

'I prefer to create an image that is beyond what the lens can see, that no one else can imagine, and transform objects and spaces into new structures and shapes by mixing them together. My photographic works are the digital expression of these thoughts. ' He mentions a sum of destructive-constructive-transformative features of a mind, in which the habit of seeing the architectural discipline is also included.
It deals with the possible forms of seeing and perception of numerous different mental states constructing a space.

Photographic Works is the expression of all these thoughts in digital and physical environments as 2-dimensional objects and 3-dimensional objects since 2015-2016.
This form of expression and presentation, which is evolving into "photo sculpture", can be followed in the recent works of the artist.

While each photographic work is always named with a different time period, the photographic series in which they take place are always named with a psychiatric term.
